A pioneering hybrid solar park has been established in Sweden

A pioneering hybrid solar park, one of Sweden’s first, has been established in Halmstad. Sungrow, the provider of the inverters and battery system, described this development as a significant stride towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, disclosed its pivotal role in a landmark project in southern Sweden. The company supplied the inverters and its PowerTitan 1.0 energy storage system, which were integrated with photovoltaic technology in Halmstad.
This initiative exemplifies progress in renewable energy deployment, grid stability, and energy efficiency, as Sungrow noted.
The hybrid solar park, developed by Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy, is engineered to produce over 7 GWh of clean electricity annually, guaranteeing optimal energy production and delivery precisely when it is most needed.
The photovoltaic facility comprises 11,928 bifacial solar panels.
The project was motivated by the necessity for cost-effective, on-demand energy generation. “We invested in a solar park because we believe society requires it, and solar energy is a sustainable method to produce electricity. We generate electricity precisely when it is most needed, during midday, and at a low marginal cost,” stated Carl Kuylenstierna, CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, the owner of the facility.
The 6.6 MW peak capacity photovoltaic installation consists of 11,928 bifacial 550 W modules mounted on a ground structure. The majority of the output is converted by 20 units of Sungrow’s SG250HX string inverters, renowned for their high efficiency and seamless compatibility with bifacial modules, as the company highlighted.
Energy storage enhancing efficiency, grid support
To further enhance energy efficiency and provide grid support through frequency regulation, the plant incorporates 4 MW / 4.4 MWh of battery storage using Sungrow’s PowerTitan 1.0 solution. The system is AC-coupled, ensuring that the PV facility and battery energy storage system (BESS) operate independently for improved flexibility and reliability.
“We selected Sungrow’s technology for both the PV inverters and the BESS system because they are industry leaders and perform exceptionally well in the Nordic climate. PowerTitan 1.0 was chosen for its 1C system, enabling us to charge and discharge within an hour – ideal for the markets we serve. Furthermore, its liquid-cooled technology substantially reduces operating costs and ensures long-term system stability,” commented Fredrik Lyckvind, CSO of Powerworks Energy.
